About me
I have a first-class Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences

I started out my career as a Medical Writer

I discovered my passion for readability as an Information Officer at a charity

I now edit and proofread complex or confusing content that needs simplifying

Outside of work you'll find me in the garden or local park, where I'll be growing
vegetables or identifying wildflowers
The human touch
I'm going to let you in on a secret...
My writing used to be difficult to understand — really difficult. I thought the only way to get a complex topic across was to use technical words I'd spent so much time learning in my degree.

However, having a chronic condition meant that I was always sifting through a lot of health information, and I hated how much effort it took to understand anything. Early in my career, working alongside Creatives also made me appreciate the value of imagery and simplicity in getting a message across.

This all began to change the way I thought about writing and editing content, and I spent years learning and practicing the distillation of information down to its key parts, and being creative in how to get those messages across. Now I help others by using and passing on those skills.

AI tools are available to help edit and proofread for free. They can tweak your words to make them more readable, and can check your content for spelling and grammar accuracy. With good prompts their use expands to other areas.
What AI can't do, however, is truly reflect the human experience. My editing can transform content in ways that you and your intended audience can connect with, because I know what it's like to be on the other side.
